REVIEW - MISSOURI MILE/That’s What I Do (Album)

COWBOYS & INDIANS MAGAZINE, by David Hofstede

(Posted 1/24/11)

"A list of great female country duos would include The Judds and ... not many others. Hoping to fill the void left by Naomi and Wynonna, who are currently on yet another round of farewell tours and concerts, are sisters Sheila and Sheena Orf, billed as Missouri Mile. On That’s What I Do, the duo show off the polish that comes from years of preparation in the workshops of Nashville’s Music Row, and that extra spark present in the singers and bands that rise above the assembly line and offer something original. Halfway between an EP sampler and a debut CD, That’s What I Do serves as a terrific introduction to a new pair of singing and songwriting aces. From the sparkling title track to the touching ballad “I Am a Song” to the sly sense of humor of “It’s Too Late Now,” all seven tracks are as catchy as they are well crafted. While it’s far too early for comparisons, there’s no mistaking the similarities in these traditional midtempo melodies and close family harmonies with early Judds hits like “Girls Night Out” and “I Know Where I’m Going.” Missouri Mile seems to know where they’re going as well, and it will be interesting to see where that road takes them from here."

REVIEW - MISSOURI MILE/That’s What I Do (Album)

TODAY'S COUNTRY MAGAZINE, www.todayscountrymag.com

(Posted 1/24/11)

"The many categories amongst the country music scene are full of competition but the one that remains to be highly competitive is the duo category. Sugarland and Montgomery Gentry are always strong contenders in the category and you now also have up and coming acts like Steel Magnolia and Joey + Rory making their mark. So what type of uniqueness does one need to bring to the table in this category to get noticed? With newcomers Missouri Mile the first aspect of this duo that grabs your attention is that they are sisters. A nice start to getting one’s attention, as it is something a little different so now it comes down to their music.  With their debut album That’s What I Do, the siblings bring something a little different to the genre in that they were inspired by the classic country that their father played and have now incorporated that style into their own brand of modern traditional country. With the whine of the fiddle on their slower paced material combined with the boot stomping rhythms of their upbeat material Missouri Mile brings a style that they can call their own with a nod to the past to an overcrowded category of the country music genre. Also of note, the harmonies presented on the album are incredible as you can only get when siblings come together. This is a very solid album that showcases both voices very well and shows their ability to command a song whether it is an upbeat or slower paced song. This album is a great find and Missouri Mile is a duo worth watching."

REVIEW - MISSOURI MILE/That’s What I Do (Album)

(Posted 10/11/10)

by Jerry W. Henry, Musicmatters, Planet Weekly, Tuscaloosa, AL, October 11, 2010

"They call themselves Missouri Mile and their release is 'That's What I Do' which is country harmony at it's best. Every song is well crafted with “I Am A Song” an outstanding standout. A country harmony must-have."

REVIEW - MISSOURI MILE/That’s What I Do (Album)

(Posted 9/10/10)
by Nashville Music Guide, Vol. 15, Issue 154, September 2010

"With the release of the their new album That’s What I Do, Sisters Shelia and Sheena Orf prove they have what it takes to be the next big duo in country music. Along with producer Byron Hill, they have written a great collection of songs that showcases the duo’s amazing sibling harmonies over a really impressive arrangement of great sounding country music. It’s difficult to pick favorites on this one but I really like the first track “All Talk” because it’s a catchy “tell it like it is” tune that gets your foot stomping from the first beat and I’ll bet that you’ll be singing along before it ends. I also recommend the slow tempo track “I Am A Song”. It’s a great metaphorical song with a beautiful melody that is once again punctuated by the duo’s angelic harmonies. Five Stars."

by Kerry R. McCarver, August 16, 2010

"A new sister-duo is hitting country music with a strong Pleasant View connection.... The sisters are getting the attention and favorable reviews from some of the most renowned music critics including Robert Oermann... The debut CD of Missouri Mile cover art is a photo of the sisters who found an old bathtub as a great backdrop for the photo shoot."

"The title tune to this sister duo’s debut EP is a gentle, brightly sparkling little ditty with a delightfully delicate tone. Sunny, simple and ear-catchingly charming."
